Reigning junior World champions in European cross-country
In the junior women’s race, Yasemin Can (TUR), winner of the 2009 junior World mountain running championships, will compete in the European cross-country championships in Santry. Ozlem Kaya (TUR) who was fifth will also compete. Other competitors include Elif Karabulut (TUR) won a silver medal in the 2009 junior Europeans. Tatyana Prorokova (RUS) was 12th in the 2009 junior Worlds.
In the junior men’s race Xavier Chevrier (ITA) won the 2009 World junior championships and Alper Demir (TUR) was the bronze medallist. Yusuf Alici (TUR) won the 2009 junior Europeans. Jakub Bazba (CZE) was 6th in the 2009 Worlds.
In the men’s under 23, Sindre Buraas (NOR) won the 2008 World junior championships. Hasan Pak (TUR) won the 2009 junior Europeans. Riccardo Sterni (ITA) was 9th in the 2009 Europeans.
Martin Dematteis (ITA) who was 9th in the 2009 Worlds will compete in the senior men’s race.
For Ireland, mountain runners Stephen Scullion (under 23 men) and Emmet Jennings (junior men) will be battling for glory.
