Brian Gregan (Clonliffe Harriers) took a big slice off his PB when he won the 400m at the London Games on Saturday. He won the race in a time of 47.67, well inside his previous indoor best of 48.58 set in Nenagh two years ago.

The women’s 60m at next weekend’s Woodie’s DIY Irish Indoor championships at the Odyssey is shaping up to be a real thriller after Claire Brady (Celbridge AC) lowered her best time to 7.48 for third place ahead of Ailis McSweeney (Leevale AC) who finished one place behind her in the two 60m races they competed in. Brady came within a fraction of beating Amy Foster when they met in Nenagh at the AAI Games.

Tim Crowe (Dooneen AC), second in the 400m at the Irish junior championships in Nenagh, set a new PB and recorded a big win in the junior 400m with a time of 49.58. Fearghus Hannon (Tullamore Harriers) was second and Dara Kervick (Carrick on Suir AC) was fourth.

Stephen Colvert (UCD AC) had a big win in the 60m and dipped under 7 seconds for the first time with 6.98.

Paul Hession (Athenry AC) got his season under way with a fourth place finish in the 60m in a time of 6.78 in Germany, while in Bratislava David McCarthy (Le Cheile AC) was an easy winner over 800m in a time of 1:49.40 - just outside his indoor best of 1:49.12.

In the US Thomas Chamney (Crusadres AC) had a comfortable win in the 800m at a meet in Albuquerque in a time of 1:50.27.
