Linda Byrne of Dundrum South Dublin AC, finished 69th in 27:56 minutes at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland today. Byrne was disappointed with the result as she was targeting an improvement on the 65th place at last year’s World Cross Championships. The Dublin athlete has had some excellent performance this season but admitted afterwards to feeling the effects of having had a long season to date. The race was won by Emily Chebet of Kenya in 24:19. Chebet lead the Kenyan team to victory with 14 points, with Ethiopia second with 22 points and the USA took third place with 76 points.
