There has been a number of coach education courses held throughout Leinster in recent weeks.
These have been well supported by a large number of clubs and underlines the commitment of clubs to raising the standards within their clubs.
A level 2 coaching course has recently been completed in St Laurence O’Toole’s AC in Carlow. This course was held over two weekends on 12th / 13th February and 19th / 20th March. The first weekend offered coaches the opportunity to cover Throws or Speed and the second focussed on Jumps or Endurance. A total of 35 coaches attended the course and these were drawn from thirteen clubs.
In addition to this there were a number of Assistant Coach Courses held in the region.
Courses in Laois and Wicklow both finished this week with close to a dozen completing each of these. A recent course held in Tallaght AC in early February attracted 14 coaches and 21 coaches turned out for the Assistant Coaching course that was held in Kildare. This is very encouraging as it illustrates the excellent coach recruitment that is happening at club level in these areas. These new coaches will hopefully continue up the coach education ladder and ensure that the young athletes get every opportunity to reach their potential.
