Preliminary entries have been received for the International Youth Cup which is being held in Glendalough on June 24th. Preliminary entries were received from countries such as Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Turkey, Slovenia etc. as well as the home countries. DSD runners Clare McCarthy and Killian Mooney are the leading Irish contenders based on 2011 form.
The trial race will be held on June 9th in Glendalough. The event is open to athletes born in 1995 or 1996. Interested athletes are asked to email iyc@imra.ie so that we can keep you informed of the trial details and of any training runs on the course. Each country can enter two teams of three runners (6 boys and 6 girls) and Ireland will avail of this option if six athletes of the required standard are available.
Ireland previously won the boy’s race in 2010 in Italy (Eoghan Totten, Kevin Dooney, and Carl Dunne), and we were 4th and 5th in 2011 in Slovenia.
