Details have been announced of Focus Ireland’s Dublin Tunnel Run which will take place under the streets of Dublin on Sunday the 12th of August:
‘Focus Ireland is calling for 10,000 people to sign up for a run through the Dublin Tunnel to raise over €175,000.00 in vital funds to help the charity’s services cope with the rising demand for support from people due to the impact of the recession.
It’s the first time since the Port Tunnel opened more than six years ago that it will be opened for an event like this so people can take part in a run with no tolls, barriers or worrying about getting soaked in the typical Irish summer weather.
This run is a 10 km event and is open to all walkers, joggers and runners. Focus Ireland is encouraging people to get in contact now to book their place. It is expected that the limit will be reached quickly. The entry fee to the event is only €25.00. This will pay for twelve hot meals for someone who is homeless. The money raised will also help to pay for Focus Ireland’s vital services which benefited some 7,500 people in 2011 which was a rise of 13% on 2010.
Places for unique events such as this with such a low entry fee sell out quickly and the advice, therefore, is to check out www.focusireland.ie or email events@focusireland.ie or telephone (01) 881 5900 to book your place now’.
