Liscarroll Athletic Club will hold its 22nd. Successive Annual Open Sports this year on Sunday 12th. August, in the local GAA Grounds, (by kind permission).
As the Sports Meeting is open to everyone & anyone with an interest in Running, i.e short sprints, & middle distance races, Long Jump, Shot Putt, Ball Throw everyone is invited to come along, & join in, in a great days Sport. You do not have to be a member of an athletic club to participate, there is no pre-entry for events, all you have to do is turn up on the day, pay your admission & away you go. There is no extra individual registration, or event fee. Relays, are mixed, with some novelty relays also on offer. The programme, which starts at 1.00 pm, has events for boys & girls born in 2008, all the way up to those born in 1996, & can be downloaded from our Club Website www.liscarrollathletics.org. or by Email ; firstname.lastname@example.org . There are also some events for Seniors & Masters. Traditionally the Sports have always kicked off on time i.e.1.00 pm & is over by 5.00 pm. hopefully this year will be no exception. Early arrival is important for anyone with very young children because of difficulties or delays they may have in parking, which in turn may result in their children being late for their events.
In all sprints, for those born in 2008,07,06,05, medals will be presented to everyone who competes. For all other Juvenile events valuable trophies will be presented to the first three in each event.
The Club acknowledges the financial support given by business’ & individuals in sponsorship, towards the purchase of prizes & trophies, & the Media for promoting the event. we acknowledge the support of Clubs from neighbouring counties & other parts of Ireland, & look forward to meeting them again this year. This is the last AAI Permitted Open Sports Meeting in Cork for 2012. Hope to see all our usual supporters, along with those who will be attending for the first time.
The Club will again host the “Tom Fitzpatrick Memorial” 10km. Road Race on Friday evening 31st. August in conjunction with the Ballyhoura Series of Road Races.Start 7.00pm.
