Athletics Ireland are delighted to announce details of our new Level 2 Coach Education course:
This course is open to all Athletics Ireland registered coaches who have attained Level 1 coaching qualification and have coached at that level for at least one year.
•The course will be three weekends in duration.
•The first weekend will be a ‘generic’ theory weekend.
•The second and third weekends will be event specific.
•Coaches must attend all three weekends and pass both written and practical assessments in order to be certified as a Level 2 Coach in an event area (e.g. Level 2 Jumps/ Level 2 Throws etc.)
Dates for 2012/2013 Level 2 Course are as follows:
Sat 20th & Sun 21st October 9am – 5.30pm
Theory for all event areas – content includes;
• Planning/Periodization
• Lifestyle Capacities
• Nutrition/Hydration
• Strength & Conditioning
• Medical Considerations for coaching athletes
• Introduction to Sports Psychology
• Preparation for competition
• Injury Prevention and Regeneration
• Testing & Monitoring
• Introduction to Physiology/Anatomy
Sat 17th & Sun 18th November 9am – 5.30pm Event Specific Weekend 1
Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd February 9am-5.30pm Event Specific Weekend 2 and Written Assessments
Practical assessments will be on-going throughout the course
