Shane Bonner a talented young athlete from Convoy who passed away some 18 months ago will be remembered on Sept 16th at the Donegal 5k championships to appropriately be held in Convoy . This event traditionally coming towards the end of the Donegal Grand Prix Series of races / walks organised by the Donegal athletics Board is sure to attract an enthusiastic group of local neighbours /family and friends from the immediate Convoy area in addition to the normal numbers that an event such as this attracts from the general running community and in particular his clubmates from Finn Valley ac .

The run /walk has a 11.15 start and everyone walkers /joggers/runners welcome . Registration from 9 am at the local Gaa grounds .

Shane a student at Lyit at the time of his tragic acccident was a scoring member of various Valley and Donegal club teams since his introduction to the sport while a student at the local St Bridgets N S and Deele College . A memorial trophy in his name will be presented to the the individual winner on the day and will become an annual aspect of the championship 5k . Regardless he will never be forgotten by his family ,friends and clubmates .
