In testing conditions up to 800 secondary school students, reppresenting almost 20 different schools, opened their school cross country season in Knockbeg College. Conditions underfoot were firm and the rain held off for most of the days races. The first round of the league doubles up as the Carlow Schools Championship. St Leos Carlow were convincing winners of the Girls overall Trophy while Presentation Carlow caught Knockbeg napping to win the overall Boys trophy, bringing Knockbegs 8 year reign to an end.
The next round of the 3 Counties league will be on the 16th of October in Leixlip. The standings are underneath. Scores beside the team are based on how many teams the team finished ahead of in the race. For example there were 23 teams in the Minor Boys race. The winning team recieves 23 points as a result and so on down the league.
