David Rooney (Raheny Shamrock AC) and Sarah Collins (Finn Valley AC) topped the performance list of Irish athletes in action in American collegiate cross country events over the weekend. Rooney, in his last year at McNeese College, put in another strong performance at the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville. He finished seventh, less than a second behind the fourth runner with runners placing 4-7 involved in a blanket finish. Louisville will host the NCAAs for the first time ever on Saturday 17 November, a big change from the Monday schedule for over 40 years.
Collins was in action at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison, an event that attracted a top class entry. Her sixth place finish ranked her as second Freshman just seven seconds behind third.
