Legendary vision impaired runner Andy FitzGerald urgently needs one to two guide runners if he is to take part in next Monday’s Dublin City Marathon.
Andy was all set to return to marathon running having narrowly missed out on Paralympic qualification at tandem cycling. Throughout the summer Andy has run several races including a half marathon. However, over the last week or so Andy’s two guide runners have indicated they cannot guarantee their participation in the Dublin City Marathon due to unforeseen circumstances.
If you are around next Bank Holiday Monday and can run a 90 to 100 minute half marathon Andy would very much appreciate your company. To guide Andy you just need to run by his side and indicate any obstacles. The idea is that one guide runner could run first half marathon or agreed segment with the other guide taking on the finish. Andy’s job is to complete the entire 26.2 miles, if at all possible.
