Ciaran won Bronze at the 2013 European Indoor Championships in the 3000m in Sweden. He is currently a member of the prestigious Oregon Track Club, Ciaran also competed at the London 2012 Olympics. His 1,500m personal best of 3.34.46 is the fourth fastest ever by an Irishman. He placed tenth in the 1500m final at the 2011 IAAF World Outdoor Track and Field Championships, becoming the first Irishman to reach a global 1,500m final since Niall Bruton in 1995. Ciaran attended both University of Michigan and Florida State University on athletic scholarship.
