Large Irish Entry in British AAA
Championships in Sheffield this Weekend
10 February 2005
James Nolan, Emily Maher and Jer
O'Donoghue will be hoping to achieve the necessary qualification
standards when they take part in this weekend's British AAA
Championships in Sheffield.
Maher and O'Donoghue are currently
2/100 and 1/100th outside their respective standards and are hopeful
of making the necessary improvements over the weekend.
Eight of the ten Irish athletes
qualified for next months European Indoor Championships in Madrid
will also be in action including Paul Brizzel and Rob Daly who will
start their events as the defending champions.
Although there are three Irish
athletes qualified for Madrid in the individual 400m there will not
be a 4x400m relay team going to Madird as the European Athletics
Association have only invited the top five fastest teams from 2004
plus the host nation.
