AAI Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) Launched

Athletics Ireland is pleased to launch the AAI Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) which will kick off on Saturday 23rd January at Athlone IT. The Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) aims to bring Irish coaches together away from the track or cross-country course and encourage information sharing and networking. It will meet four times during the year with more frequent informal “Masterclasses” taking place in between the four key dates. Full details of the ECN’s Vision, Mission, Philosophy and Values can be found here.

If you are a beginner coach, development coach or a performance coach then this event has something to offer you. The (ECN) will bring the coaching community together to gain & share knowledge and more importantly to network with each other. It will be hosted in the excellent surroundings of Athlone IT.

Steve Macklin, Athletics Ireland coach education lead for endurance said:

"I am extremely enthusiastic about this initiative as it brings all our endurance coaches together to learn, share and network. It is exciting that we have such high calibre speakers delivering at the first event to pass on their knowledge and experiences to our endurance coaches. This is an opportunity for all coaches to learn or refresh on current coaching methods or see what other coaches are doing and more importantly to network with each other. The layout of the day is very relevant to all endurance coaches in Ireland and I encourage all coaches to attend. You are investing in your own athletes by doing so. One key aspect of these days is the fact we will have Irish coaches presenting about their athletes and giving other coaches a chance to pick up new ideas on training.”

It promises to be a fantastic first event so keep Saturday 23rd January free in your diaries. The full line up of speakers and workshops/presentations will be released in two weeks time, with online registration for the event open at this point.
