Cusack highlights day of PBs at Spring Throws

Conor Cusack (Lake District Harriers) was the highlight performance at the Irish Life Health Spring Throws with a European U18 qualifier throwing 66.10m in the javelin in Templemore today (April 8).

It was an excellent performance by the young man with the 700g implement on a day where 22 personal bests were set a variety of throwing events.

Competition was over four rounds by age appropriate weight with any athletes looking for a qualifying standard given an extra two throws.

Pat Moore (Leevale), six times a national senior champion, threw a M70 record of 40.73m in the javelin to add to two other masters’ age group records.

Orlaith O’Brien (Waterford) won the overall javelin (600g) with a best of 43.66m. Michaela Walsh (Swinford) was second in the javelin but expectedly won the hammer (4kg) comfortably with a best of 59.25m.
