Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) 6

POSTED:

Athletics Ireland is excited to announce UK athlete Bobby Clay as the star attraction for the Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) 6 event taking place on Saturday 21st April at Athlone IT. Bobby is a former European Junior 1500m champion and has really helped create awareness around the issue of RED-s (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport). She will tell of her experience with RED-s in an interactive Q&A session at ECN 6, it promises to be a session not to be missed for all athletes/parents/coaches. The theme for ECN 6 is “Keeping Athletes Healthy & Injury Free” and the registration for the event and final line up of speakers will be released on Monday 12th March. Please find below two related articles on the area of RED-s featuring our special guest Bobby Clay.

Steve Macklin coach education lead for endurance said “We are incredibly excited to have Bobby Clay attend ECN 6 and share her story. She has been very brave revealing all on social media in recent months in what is such a personal & serious issue. By doing so she has raised awareness of RED-s and the serious impact it can have on an athletes career. We in Athletics Ireland feel that more needs to be done in this area around education for athletes/parents/coaches to help reduce the number of cases of RED-s. I would encourage every parent and coach to attend this event and really gain an understanding of what it takes to keep an athlete healthy & injury free.”
