Nolan and Coghlan Added to Largest Ever Irish Team for Euro Indoors

28 February 2005

Athletics Ireland are pleased to announce that a further two athletes have been added to the team for the forthcoming European Indoor Championships in Madrid on March 4-6th making the final number sixteen, the largest Irish team ever for these Championships.

James Nolan (1500m) and Peter Coghlan (60m H) were both added after showing some outstanding form in the past week. Nolan, a silver medallist from the event in 2000, ran a season's best of 3:41.91 in Madrid on Thursday while Coghlan won a 55m hurdles event in 7.26sec at Clemson University in the US on Saturday night, not far off his National Record of 7.21 in this rarely contested distance.

The event was given a welcome boost when RTE announced that they will be showing extended highlights over the three nights of the Championship.
