Forest Feast Little Athletics Spring into action at local Jamboree

POSTED:

Over 100 young athletes from Kilkenny joined together to celebrate sport at the first 2015 Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamboree. The action packed event took place on June 11th at Abbey Hall, Graignamanagh, Co. Kilkenny

The Jamborees, which run in four locations throughout Ireland, bring together Forest Feast Little Athletics clubs from the local area to participate in various games, challenges and activities.  The fun-filled events have been organised to provide athletes aged 5-8 years old with an opportunity to meet with others from neighbouring clubs and showcase their skills while further developing their agility, balance and coordination.

Local Schools and Clubs

Colin Byrne, Athletics Ireland Regional Development Officer and event coordinator said,

“Thank you to all the local schools and clubs for coming along this evening and participating in the first Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamboree of 2015. We are thrilled with the excellent turnout and it is very encouraging to see so many children getting active and having fun!

“We’re delighted that Forest Feast has continued to support the programme for a second year. Little Athletics introduces children to sports at a grassroots level, allowing them to experience a variety of activities and establish a fun connection with sports. During 2015 we hope to expand on the success of last year and open further Little Athletics clubs across the country,” added Mr Byrne.

Have fun, socialise and get active!

Speaking about Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamborees, Christine Whelan, Forest Feast Field Sales Manager said:

“The Forest Feast Little Athletics clubs are a fantastic way to bring children together to make friends and experience new, enjoyable sporting activities. The regional Jamborees allow the young athletes to showcase their progress, challenge their ability, but most importantly have fun, socialise and get active.

“At Forest Feast we believe it is important for children to develop a positive attitude towards exercise and nutrition at a young age to instill healthy habits for adulthood. Our range of dried fruit and nut products provides families with a healthy alternative for snacking,” continued Christine. The next regional Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamboree will take place on June 17th, Bray Co. Wicklow.
