GloHealth AAI Games Preview

The GloHealth AAI Games takes place on Sunday 17th of May in Morton Stadium with 2015 European Indoor Long Jump representative Adam McMullen (Crusaders AC) making his outdoor debut. McMullen enjoyed a breakthrough indoor season which included claiming the GloHealth National indoor title while leaping out to a personal best of 7.80m in the process.

Entry List

Relay Athletes Return

Fresh from representing Ireland at the IAAF World Relay Championships in the Bahamas Craig Lynch (Shercock AC), Catherine McManus (Celtic DCH) and Steffi Creaner (Celtic DCH) will all be competing in the sprint events in Santry on Sunday.

McManus will also go in the 100m hurdles where she will face Irish Heptathlon Youth Record Holder Elizabeth Morland (Cushinstown AC).

Marcus Lawler (St Laurence O’Toole AC) will start as favourite in the 100m and 200m events having run times of 10.70 (100m) and 21.14 (200m) seconds already this season.

800m & 1500m

Junior athlete Harry Purcell (Trim AC) goes in the men’s 800m while another promising junior athlete Louise Shanahan (Leevale AC) is the standout name in the women’s two lap event. 2015 European Indoor representative Danny Mooney (Letterkenny AC) is the leading light in the men’s 1500m event.

Sean Breathnach (Galway City Harriers AC) who was in supreme form during the indoor season goes in the men’s shot putt competition. Breathnach recorded a distance of 17.42m during the indoor season and also captured the national title.

Timetable

The programme begins at 12.15 on the track with the 200m and at 11.30am in the field with the long jump. Athletes entered in the 100m now also have the option of two races with series one starting at 13.10 and series two at 14.20
