GloHealth National Master Champs Preview

The GloHealth Master Track and Field Championships are set for Tullamore this Sunday, 26th of July.  There are over 500 master athletes contesting the championships vying for national medals in all categories from 35+ to the 90+ age group. The action gets underway with the 100m on the track and the javelin begins proceedings in the field events at 11am.

Entry List

Former Irish international athlete Kelly Neely (City of Lisburn AC) will start as the overwhelming favourite in the 800m event on Sunday. Neely has a seasons best of 2.10.25 from the IMC meet in Leixlip on the 13th of June is likely to be the quickest competitor from all the age categories in Tullamore. Moira Peppard is the defending champion in the 100m and 200m events and the Trim AC athlete goes again for the double.

68 Athletes Entered in the 1500m

An interesting entrant in the men’s sprints is Ger Cremin (An Riocht AC) as he lines up in the 100m, 200m and 110m hurdles events. The 1500m is proving a popular event on the men’s side with 68 competitors set to take on the classic distance. Sean Breathnach (Galway City Harriers AC) is the standout name in the throws event as Joe Gough (West Waterford AC) goes for gold in the 800m.

Hugh Gallagher (Milford AC) and Patrick Naughton (Nenagh Olympic AC) contest their respective javelin and high jump events.

Relay Events Conclude Programme

The 4x100m and 4x400m relay event will provide a thrilling conclusion to the day’s competition with teams entered from East Coast AC, Gneeveguilla AC, An Riocht AC, Derg AC, Lucan Harriers and Waterford AC.
