12 August 2004

Paul Hession equalled his 200m personal best on Tuesday in Slovenia with a second place finish at the International meeting in Ljubljana. Continuing a tremendous breakthrough season for the Athenry man, he clocked 20.61 for the second time this summer and was just beaten by a new Slovenian National Record by the race winner Matic Osovnikar (20.54). At the same meeting, Ciara Sheehy ran her fastest 200m of the year by clocking 23.51 to also finish second in her race.

On Sunday in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Peter Coghlan equalled his season's best with runs of 13.57 and 13.60 for victory in the 110m hurdles. Karen Shinkins was 4th in the 400m with 52.22, just outside her season's best and Rob Daly comfortably won the B race of the men's 400m with a 46.10 showing.
