Irish Athletes In Action On The US Collegiate Circuit

A number of Irish athletes were representing their college on the US collegiate Circuit over the weekend. Sean Tobin (University of Mississippi) produced a high quality performance at the SEC Conference Race finishing fifth in a time of 24.37 – the winning time was 23.49. 

At the Ivy League race Kevin Dooney (Yale University) finished a close fifth in a time of 24.35, eleven seconds behind the winner (24.24). There were a number of Irish athletes competing at the Big East Race with Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Villanova) leading home her team mates with an eight place finish in a time of 21.18 – the race winner recorded  a time of 20.31. Shane Quinn (Providence College) produced a solid performance to finish ninth in a time of 24.02 in the men’s race and was followed home by team mates Aaron Hanlon 22nd (24.41) and Hugh Armstrong 24th (24.43).

At the MAAC Conference Jake Byrne (Iona University) recorded an impressive victory in a time of 25.30.
