Season's Best for Gordon Kennedy in Open Meeting at Mardyke

8 July 2004

The first ever graded Track and Field meeting was held in the UCC
mardyke track on Wednesday evening. There was a healthy crowd at the event hosted by UCC athletic club in association with Cork County athletics board.
The event attracted athletes from all over the county and beyond, eager
to take advantage of the electronic timing that was in use.

Performance of the night was that of Gordon Kennedy of Tullamore Harriers in the 400m who ran 46.89 seconds and considering that there was a strong wind
against him over the last 100m this was a very impressive performance.

Other notable performance included that of Kieran Hurley (Togher)in the
800m, Sean Hehir (Marian) in the 3000m, Mera O'Connor (Belgooly) in the
sprint hurdles, Antoinette Furlong in the long jump, Jessika Zebo and
Jer O'Donoghue of Leevale in the sprints.  Full results of the event are
available on www.corkathletics.org
