2005 Ras na hEireann USA to Take Place March 20th

The 3rd annual Marathon Sports & Mizuno Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km "The Race of Ireland & U.S.A." will be taking place on March 20, 2005, in Somerville, Massachusetts - establishments in Davis Square, Teele Square, Magoun Square & Union Square will be participating making this a true Somerville city-wide St. Padraig's Day celebration that will include folks traveling from Ireland and 11 states with the United States.

The weekend long celebration includes a Race Exposition on Saturday March 19th at the VFW Geo. Dilboy Post in Davis Square and a "Taste of Ireland" dinner Saturday evening.

The "Taste of Ireland" dinner will feature Bill Rodgers as our Guest Speaker along with Grand Marshall Charlie Breagy who is the elite Runner Coordinator for our sister race the Ras na hEireann International Cross-Country Race held every year in Termonfeckin, Co. Louth, Ireland. The Celtic band DownDog will be the evening's entertainment.

Bill Rodgers will be spending the entire weekend of March 19th & 20th in Somerville, Massachusetts making himself available for autographs and pictures and he will be running his first ever organized Somerville road race. All are welcome at the Race Exposition and "Taste of Ireland" dinner at the VFW Geo. Dilboy Post

The Registration for runners and walkers is capped at 2000 and at this time the event is 87% filled. Please see the web site for more imnformation on volunteering or participating in the road race:
