Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon Offers Clubs a Chance To Win €1,000

The National Half Marathon Championships will be run in conjunction with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half Marathon, taking place on the 4th of August in Dublin’s City Centre. The 2014 national championship offers clubs the opportunity to win a €1,000 cash prize.

Competition

Every affiliated Athletics Ireland Club in the country has a chance to win. For every ten club members that enter the national half marathon championships the club will be automatically entered into the draw. The more members that enter, the better your club’s chances are of winning!

The winning club will win a €1,000 cash prize and a table for ten club members at the prestigious national athletics awards held each year in November. The lucky club can utilize the generous prize fund for the future development of their club.

Deadline for Entry

In order to be in with a chance of winning these prizes club athletes must enter before 5pm on June 30th. The entry fee for the national half marathon is €25 per athlete and along with being entered into the draw the following are the perks of entering:

• Scenic city centre course highlighting Dublin’s famous sites
• Live, local bands along the course
• Technical Participant T-Shirt
• Fantastic Finisher’s medal
• Swag Bag
• Plentiful Course Support, including Sports Drink and Power Bar energy gel
• Free Admission to the Finish Line Festival

Last year’s national championships attracted a record number of over 600 athletes with similar numbers expected for this year’s event. Mark Christie (Mullingar Harriers AC) and Lizzie Lee (Leevale AC) were the respective senior men’s and women’s champions while Dublin club Clonliffe Harriers and Cork Club Leevale AC were victorious in the team competitions. The competition for the men’s and women’s master individual and team titles will be as competitive as ever, all will be revealed in the battle for club supremacy come August 4th.
