Entry List

Hurdles & Sprints

Fresh from their battle at the GloHealth Junior Championships in Cork Sam Healy (Leevale AC) and Mathew Behan (Crusaders AC) will go head to head in the U19 110m Hurdles. In Cork Healy came out on top winning in a time of 14.11 with Behan just behind in second in a time of 14.12, both times were inside the B-standard for the World Junior Championships. Dean Power (Tullamore Harriers AC) will start as favourite in the U19 100m

Molly Scott (St Laurence O’Toole AC) has enjoyed a fantastic year in 2014 winning the 75m Hurdles at the All Ireland Schools and Tailteann Games earlier in the summer. Scott will target a sprint double in Tullamore as she is set to compete in the 80m Hurdles and 100m. In the sprint event Scott will have to contend with Gina Akpe Moses (Blackrock-Louth), the current All Ireland Schools 100m champion.

At U18 level Megan Marrs (City of Lisburn AC) is the standout name as she contests the 100m and 100m Hurdles events. Marrs is in the form of her life having set personal bests in the 100m (11.82) and 100m Hurdles (13.72) this year. Marrs will battle it out against Niamh McNicol (Ferrybank AC) in the 100m, McNicol was recently named on the Irish team in the 200m for the World Junior Championships.

Steeplechase

There is record entry in the boy’s U18 steeplechase with 17 athletes entered for the championship. Killian Cullagh (Nenagh Olympic AC) who is fresh from claiming bronze in the junior race at last weekend’s junior championships will start as the slight favourite.  In the girl’s equivalent Alison Armstrong (Celtic DCH) has shown good pedigree over the barriers this year and is likely to go well on Sunday.

Field Events

European Youth Olympic Trials (EYOT) representative Michaela Walsh (Swinford AC) has thrown a massive new personal best this year of 15.33m in the Shot Putt. Walsh will contest her specialist Shot Putt event and the Discus in the Tullamore on Sunday. Fellow EYOT representative Eoin Sheridan (North Westmeath AC), better known for his Discus exploits will contest the U18 Shot Putt.

The hammer event begins proceedings in the field at 10am with the hurdles events first on the track also at 10am.
