Safeguarding Statement

POSTED:

Athletics Ireland’s safeguarding policy and guidelines is outlined in our Code of Ethics – available to all athletes and clubs on our website.  AAI also has a full time National’s Children’s Officer – Kieron Stout.  Kieron is based in Santry but supports clubs and individuals throughout the country.  He is contactable at 0862450134 or by email at kieronstout@athleticsireland.ie.

Athletics Ireland wants to ensure children and young people enjoy their sport in a safe, fun and fair way and we would appeal to everyone involved in the sport to play their part as child protection in sport is all our responsibility.

Within athletics, the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people in is paramount and all Athletics Ireland sports leaders are vetted and undergo safeguarding awareness training as required by legislation. Each of our juvenile clubs has appointed a child welfare officer and a designated liaison person to deal with any concerns that may arise.

If you have any concerns about a child in your community please contact your local Garda station. If you have any concerns about child welfare in the athletics community please contact Kieron (086 2450134 or by email at kieronstout@athleticsireland.ie).
