The IAAF Council, at its meeting in November 2000, approved an amended
distribution of Competition Awards. The top six athletes for the IAAF World Cross
Country Championships will receive prize money. Team awards will be introduced for
the top six teams (excluding the Junior competition). The awards will be as follows:
