On the track again….

POSTED:

What an exciting few months we have ahead here in the competitions department with National Championships ranging from Juvenile to Masters to look forward to and the closing out of the Cross-Country Season on the 3rd February in Dundalk. Before all that though, I would personally like to welcome Lizzy Broderick to the competitions team and congratulate her on her appointment as new Director of Competitions. She has come into the role with such enthusiasm and I can’t wait to work with her closely in the coming months.

With the high standards we demand to put on professional and unique events, we continue to upgrade our technical equipment to ensure the highest quality of Championships for athletes. We are now rolling out our new online entry system that will make it easier than ever for athletes and clubs to register for events. Also, due to the increasing popularity of contactless payment via debit & credit cards, we have fully invested in credit card technology, therefore all Athletics Ireland National competition events will now be cashless events for general admission at venues.

Finally, as we start our journey in 2019 I cannot pass up this opportunity without mentioning our successful bid to host the European Cross-Country Championships in Ireland for 2020. The Championships will take place at the National Sports Campus on Sunday 13th December 2020 and we are excited to work with Fingal County Council, Sport Ireland and RTE. Everyone here in Athletics Ireland is determined to host the best European Cross- Country Championships to date!
