Selection Criteria
Team Selection for World & European Championships
Teams and Individuals to 24-hr and 100K World & European Championships based on criteria listed below.
To be considered for selection for European & World Championship at 100K & 24-hrs, athletes must be a registered member of an AAI affiliated club and meet the following criteria.
100K
- Men: 7:30hrs
- Women: 9:00hrs
24-hrs
- Men: 220K
- Women: 200K
These times / distances are in line with IAAF & IAU international grade B standards. Athletes who achieve an international grade B standard at 100K will be considered for 24-hr races if Team places are available.
Ultra Trail
To qualify for a position on the Trail Team the candidate must have suitable Trail / Mountain running experience and have ran a 50K in 3:15hrs or faster for Men and 50K in 3:30hrs or faster for Women. Notable achievements in non standard distances against high calibre opposition will also be considered if Team places are available.
Non standard distance races include:
- Wicklow Way Ultra.
- Connemara Ultra.
Time Period
- The standards should have been reached in race year or the preceding two years.
- Note: All ultra distances should be achieved in IAU labelled and /or AAI permitted races. Meeting the qualifying standard does not guarantee selection and applicants must be in good health / injury free and showing good current form.
- The qualifying criteria for Home Nations Competition such as the Anglo Celtic Plate 100Km will be lower and Men with a sub 2:40 Marathon time and Women with a sub 3hr Marathon time will also be considered for these Teams if places are available. Home Nations Competitions will also be used for developmental purposes.
