Irish Life Health National Juvenile Championships set to end the Indoor Season with a BANG

POSTED:

This weekend brings a close to this years action-packed Irish life Health National Juvenile Indoor Championships at the TUS International Arena. Throughout these championships athletes have set Championship records, new PB’s and for some competed at their first National Championship with crowds. The 2022 indoor season has seen incredible performances from up-and-coming Irish athletes.

The 4x200m Relays are the first order of the day and are fast becoming a leading event for Irish success on the national and international stage. At the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade as Day 1 and Day 2 of the Juvenile Championships got under way, Team Ireland broke both the Senior Men’s and Women’s Relay records.

This Juvenile Championships is set to host more gripping relay action, with over 250 teams registered for the 4x200m event from U15 to U18. Leevale AC, Galway City Harriers, Dooneen AC and Ratoath AC all fielding big teams with athletes such as Lucy May Sleeman (Leevale AC), Lucy McGlynn (Tír Chonaill A.C.), Leon King Abor (Boyne AC) and Adam Nolan (St. L. O'Toole A.C.) set to represent their Clubs in the relay battles after their strong performances at Day 1and 2 of these Championships.

In the field events over 160 athletes are set to compete across the Long Jump, Triple jump and Shot-Put events, with more Championships records under threat.

In the Shot Put, strong athletes such as Una O’Donnell (Lifford Strabane A.C.), Ailbhe Gordon (Greystones and District A.C.) and Charlie Laverty (Carrick Aces A.C.) are all ones to watch.

There is plenty of rising talent in this year’s Long Jump competition such as the recently crowned U16 National 60m Champion Riona Doherty (Finn Valley AC) in the girls competition and Ronan Duggan (Galway City Harriers AC) in the boys competition.

Daire McDevitt (Tír Chonaill A.C.), Adam Ross (Dundrum South Dublin A.C.), Cara Miller (City of Lisburn A.C.) and Ellen O’Dwyer (Nenagh Olympic A.C.) are just some of the athletes taking to this year’s Triple Jump competition.

The final day of this year’s Irish Life Health Juvenile Championships gets underway from 10am at the TUS International Arena.
