Highlights:

What a start to the 2022 Indoor Season! From New Irish Records to Personal Bests it was an exciting day of competition and sets the tone of what's to come ahead this season. Sunday also seen the largest turnout of guest entries to the National League as well as the second largest turnout of Teams.

After the exciting day of competition Leevale AC came out on top for both League events.

New Irish records came from both the Track and Field. Israel Olatunde from UCD AC provided a new Irish U23 60m Record of 6.67, just 6 hundreds off the Irish Senior Record. Paul Hession set the Irish U23 60m Record back in 2007. This performance from Israel also seen him become 5th in the World Rankings for the 60m Indoor event.

In the Field events, Conor Callinan from Leevale AC set a new National Junior Record in the Pole Vault at 4.70.

Galway City Harriers set a new National 4x400m Relay Club Record of 3:58.38, on the Team was Nicole Walsh, Laura Nally, Eimear Rowe and Ella O'Connor.

Leevale AC Men set a new National 4 x 400m Relay Club Record of 3:23.99, on the Team was Scott Gibson, Colin Doyle, Sean Carmody and Ciaran Dee,

It was a day of Personal Bests on the track, Marcus Lawlor from Clonliffe AC set his new Personal Best over 400m at 48.48. Training partner Phil Healy from Bandon AC was just 2 hundreds of a new Personal Best but her performance was enough for her to jump to Number 1 in the World Rankings 400m Indoor.

Sarah McCarthy also set a Personal Best in the Guest 60m event with a time of 7.57.

Matthew Callinan Keenan attempted 5.03 which would have seen him provide the Best Performance by an Irish Resident, a sign of exciting things to come from Matthew this year

Round 1 has been an exciting start to the 2022 season, with more action set to come on the 23rd of January in TUS Athlone.
