The death took place recently of Tadgh Twomey

Tadhg Twomey was a member of Rising Sun AC, Knocknacurra AC, and later Bandon AC. He won a total of 34 Irish titles, second only to Ned Tobin (Galway) who won a total of 36 titles. Tadgh won 18 Over-the-Bar titles, and held the Irish record for many years. In addition, he won 16 Weight-for-Distance titles. He won his first Irish Title in 1960, becoming Bandon AC's first Irish Record Holder, and his final Title win came 20 years later, in 1980. He also took Irish Silver and bronze in High, Long and Triple Jumps in his early years. He also won many County, Munster and National medals throughout the 1960s, to the 1980's, in a number of field events, including long Jump, high jump and weight throws.

Tadhg Twomey was presented with the Bandon AC Hall of Fame award, in 2011.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen, and children Myra (Drennan), Ella (Cooper), DanJoe and grandchildren.
