Update - High Performance Strategy 2022-2028

POSTED:

The High Performance Committee comprised of Fintan Reilly (Chair), Niall Bruton, Brid Golden, Teresa McDaid, Ray Flynn, Eamon Harvey, Noelle Morrissey together with Performance Director Paul McNamara and the HP staff, President John Cronin and CEO Hamish Adams are currently developing a new strategic plan for our sport for the 2022 to 2028 period. The recent Tokyo review facilitated by Sport Ireland will form a key component of the plan together with feedback from the athlete commission, to be established in the coming weeks, and the community of performance coaches. The intention of the committee is to have a final draft of the plan completed for the Board by the end of March 2022.

High Performance Director Paul McNamara notes "with covid disruption hopefully in the rear-view mirror and Paris 2024 quickly coming into view, we are keen to advance to the next phase of developing the HP system to take us through to LA 2028. We have been engaging in a systems review since Tokyo, and are determined to advance the cause of performance coaching in everything we do, along with enhanced and integrated performance support of our elite and transitioning athletes."

Hamish Adams, CEO adds "the new HP strategy will give us a roadmap to Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028. We are continually striving to do better in all aspects of our business and HP is the most demanding of all. We are conscious that we have limited resources, but we must maximise all aspects of HP to best support our HP athletes and coaches, and I am excited to contribute to this new plan."
