European Master Athletics Championships 2017

The European Masters Athletics Championship is currently taking place in Aarhus, Denmark. 

Declan Power M45 opened proceedings on day 1 with silver in the 10,000 followed by Shane Sheridan M55 with bronze in the 100m. Jackie Carthy W45 finished a very impressive 2nd overall in the Women’s Cross Country & duly won gold in her category, with Ciaran Doherty also capturing gold in the 3000m Steeplechase. Niamh Fitzgerald W40 won silver in the 1500m with husband Eoin also making the Men's 1500m final.

Additional bronze medals won by IMAA President Sean McMullin M70 in the 5000m Track Race Walk, with Dorothy McLennan W75 returning to International competition after long layoff in the 100m & finally Evelyn McNelis W70 in the Cross Country.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Davis Walsh M35 who suffered major Achilles’ tendon injury, when competing in the 3000m Steeplechase had a fall off one of the hurdles in the final lap & was in a medal position at the time.
