We know many event organisers have been hit especially hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, very possibly including you. Our partners at Eventmaster are here to help any event organisers find the best way to deal with the situation. You can contact them at support@eventmaster.ie with any questions you might have in regard to going virtual.
While most sporting events have had to be cancelled, Eventmaster has made it their mission to find a way to support event organisers during this challenging time – they have refined the virtual event setup process and have developed a race time submission functionality with a leader board that can be used for any event that is ticketed via Eventmaster.
Click on the below examples to see of some of the events on Eventmaster that have successfully adapted to the current situation and organised to go virtual for 2020:
What is a virtual event?
Virtual events/races are very similar to physical events – you enter a race and once you finish you may receive a medal/top/etc. There are benefits for participants
- They can complete the race at their own time and pace.
- They can complete the race wherever they like.
By their very nature, virtual races are much easier to plan and deliver than live events. There are no volunteers to recruit or operations and infrastructure to assemble. In fact, most of the tasks you would be used to from a physical event are irrelevant for a virtual race. The focus in virtual races is on branding, marketing, and customers.
Boost Your Income
Most likely, the main reason you are considering a virtual race is because of the additional income it could provide for your business or charity. Here are two reasons why virtual races are excellent income earners:
- They are easy to scale up. That means with the right marketing you can easily and quickly multiply your revenue.
- They help further monetize physical events. That’s just a fancy way of saying you’ve done all the hard work making your physical race a success (branding, building out your social media, mailing lists etc), you can now use what’s already by adding a virtual race to it.
Tracking Finish Times
Early on in planning your virtual race, you will have to decide whether you are going to track and rank participant finish times. You do not have to. But whatever you decide to do, it helps to let people know before they sign up for the race.
Eventmaster have developed an easy-to-use functionality that will allow your participants to easily submit their race time via the Eventmaster website. Once you approve their submission the results will be available to view on Eventmaster. All participants can view their position in comparison to the other submission.
