Steeplechaser Michelle Finn (Leevale AC) and 400m Hurdler Thomas Barr (Ferrybank AC) have secured the qualifying standard for the Olympics at the Continental Tour event in Finland this evening.

Finn took nine seconds of her personal best to go second on the Irish all-time list with a 9:29:25 for 3,000SC.

Thomas Barr clocked his fastest time since 2018 as he claimed first place in the 400m hurdles in 48.39.

Barr's performance comes hot on the heels of some impressive recent outings including his relay leg at the World Athletics Relays in Silesia which helped the mixed 4 x 400m team claim Olympic and 2022 World Championships qualification.
