Juvenile athletics in Galway received a welcome boost this week with the receipt of a cheque for over two thousand Euros from Galway's senior clubs. The cash, which was raised during the recent series of 5k road races around the County, will assist in the development of athletics at county level over the next twelve months. On hand to accept the cheque on behalf of the Galway AAI County Board were Chairman Tom Finnegan and Secretary PJ Coyle. Both gentlemen, who have many years dedicated service to athletics to their credit, were pleased to accept the donation on behalf of our aspiring athletic stars. AAI Regional Development Officer Paul McNamara formally presented the cheque to Tom and PJ on behalf of the road races series organisers. Also in attendance were representatives of the Galway Clubs which hosted this year's road races series, namely Galway City Harriers, Athenry AC, Craughwell AC, Tuam AC and Loughrea AC.
