Kalyn Sheehan, Ferrybank is edging closer to the qualifying standard (60.30 ) for the world junior championships in Beijing following an easy victory in 60.54 at the Munster Championships in the CIT in Cork on Sunday in adverse conditions.With a series of races over the coming weeks it is likely that Kalyn will attain the standard by the cutoff date 23rd July. The talented Christopher Crowley, Belgooly had a fine treble in the high jump 2.00 metres ; long jump 6.66 metres and triple jump 12.29 metres. In the mens 100 metres Derek Duff, Leevale won in 10.85 while Kevin Walsh, Togher won the 400 metres in 49.72. Rosemary Ryan , Bilboa sharpened her speed with a nice victory in the 1500 metres in 4.28.25. The women's hammer was won by Rachel Akers, Marian in 48.07 metres while Mark Hanily , Fr Murphy's won the men's in 53.85 metres
