This year's national track and field league will take place as follows:
  • Round 1: 16th July Limerick and Navan
  • Round 2: 6th August Cork ( CIT ) and Santry
  • Final : 20th August Tullamore
Entry forms have been circulated to all clubs and county boards. The closing date for submitting entries is the 23rd June . Once again the onerous task of league coordinator is being undertaken by Brian Dowling. All queries on the league should be addressed to Brian at the AAI offices. Each year the winners of the men's and women's event automatically qualify to represent Ireland in the following year's European Club championships.Last weekend Abbey AC winners of the women's award for the first time travelled to Istanbul for the European Clubs . They finished 7th overall and had the great satisfaction of winning the final event on the programme the 4x400 relay. Entry forms have also circulated for the:
  • Masters Combined Events on Saturday 10th June Navan
  • Senior and Junior Combined Events on Saturday/Sunday 10/11June Navan
  • Senior relays Sunday 11th June Navan
We urge athletes and clubs to strongly support these events as the participation level in recent years has been poor. Athletes for the senior and junior combined events should note that their events will be a guide to the selectors for participation in the home countries combined events in Scotland on Sept 9/10. Application forms for hosting cross country and road championships in 2006/2007 have also been circulated to clubs and counties. We urge those interested in hosting an event to forward their applications to the Chair of Competition as soon as possible.
