Masterful performances in Athlone

There was no shortage of medals and magnificent performances at the Irish Life Health Masters Indoor Championships in Athlone today (March 10).

Kelly Neely (City of Lisburn AC) was one of the leading women winning the F40 1500m in 4:55.41 and 3000m in 9:38.42. Full results are HERE

Other women who featured in the distance events included Annette Kealy (Raheny Shamrock A.C.) in the F50 3000m winning 10:36.16, Anne Gilshinan (Slaney Olympic A.C.) winning the F50 800m in 2:21.28 with Adrienne Atkins (Raheny Shamrock) winning the F50 1500m in 5:42.26. Pauline Moran (Mayo AC) won the F60 800m in 2:43.38 and 1500m in 5:42.50.

Mary Barrett (Loughrea A.C.) won the F60 high jump with 1.15m and produced a championship best performance (CBP) of 3.21m to win the long jump. Geraldine Finegan (North East Runners A.C.) won the F50 high jump with 1.40m and the long jump with 4.21m. Antoinette Stafford (DMP) won the F40 long jump impressively with a best of 5.12m.

Jonathan Miller (Crusaders) was speedy in the M35 section winning the 200m in 23.99 and the 400m in 52.09.

Ger Cremin (An Ríocht AC) won the M40 60m Hurdles in 9.14 and 200m in 23.99. He finished second in the 400m in 53.22 behind Kevin Lynch (Lios Tuathail) in 52.89.

Peadar McGing (DSD) won the M60 200m 28.37 and the 400m in 65.53.

David Hayde (SLOT) ran a swift 24.17 to win the M50 200m while Katherine Markey (Fingallians) won the F50 200m in 29.35. Avril Dillon (DSD) won the W35 60m hurdles in 9.71.  

Shane Healy (Metro/St. Brigid's A.C.) won the M50 in 2:03.42 with Joe Gough (West Waterford) winning the M65 800m 2:23.83 as expected. Mark O’Shea (Drogheda & District) won the M45 1500m in 4:10.7.

Martin McEvilly (Galway City Harriers) won the M70 800m and 1500m in 2:46.99 and 5:50.00 respectively.

Sean Breathnach (Galway City Harriers) had a big win in the M40 shot put with 16.74m while Francois Kulik (Sli Cualann) cleared a good 1.80m in the M35 high jump.

Patrick Naughton (Nenagh Olympic) had a CBP in the M85 shot put with 8.11m and won the high jump with 1.00m.

Mary Martin (Dunboyne) W70 800m 3:32.08 and Mary Walsh (Tullamore Harriers A.C.) won the W70 200m in 41.17.
