Euro Team Champs Nomination Policy Published

The 2023 European Team Championships will be integrated into the Krakow 2023 European Games, a multi-sport event organised by the European Olympic Committee, and will take place in Silesia, Poland from the 20th to the 22nd June.

Nomination and Selection policies for all sports participating in the Krakow 2023 European Games have been published collectively by the Olympic Federation of Ireland. Athletics Ireland will nominate athletes to the Olympic Federation of Ireland for selection to this prestigous event. 

This is a key event for Athletics Ireland in it's own right, and will provide qualification opportunities for 2023 and 2024 Championships including the 2023 World Athletics Championships.  The unique format of this championships also offers significant international championship exposure to our athletes.

Athletics Ireland did not compete in the 2021 edition of this championships due to Covid concerns and the potential impact on Olympic qualification, and as such will compete in Division 3 in 2023 in a restructered divisional format. Athletics Ireland intend to win Division 3 and secure promotion to Division 2, and intend to field the strongest team possible to ensure this outcome.
