Well done to everyone who took part in the Irish Life Health All Ireland Schools Virtual Mile Challenge!

The results can be found HERE.

Dear Teachers, students, coaches and parents I do hope that you are well and have found ways to keep healthy, fit and active with your running in this challenging year.

To begin with, I am sad that the Irish Schools Cross Country Championships could not go ahead as normal this year, due to the ongoing restrictions caused by the pandemic. The health of our teachers, officials, students and spectators is paramount and we have to base our decisions on the current government’s restrictions and national guidelines. We have decided to launch An Irish Schools Virtual Mile Challenge that we hope will generate healthy competition between athletes across the country.

Irish Schools Virtual Mile Challenge (Monday 12th April – 30th April 2021)

The Irish Schools Virtual Mile Challenge is open to all Secondary Schools nationwide. This is a free programme open to all post primary school students,

We know that 2020 and early 2021 has been particularly difficult for all students, who have had limited access to their favourite sports, so we are encouraging Secondary School children across the country to get out and get moving!

You can run on any surface, and at any time that suits you. Students can sign up individually, or can be signed up as a schools team.

  • It is free to enter
  • Needs no equipment
  • Can be completed on any surface
  • Is open to all age groups / u14 / u15 / u17 / u19
  • Spot Prizes

Once students have completed their Virtual Mile Challenge, students, teachers or parents can submit their names to be entered into a prize draw to win some prizes for you and your school! Entries will open on Monday 12th April to Friday 22nd of April.

We would ask that all students, staff and parents involved keep to the Public Health advice and follow the social distancing guidelines to ensure safety for all. For all the latest advice on Covid-19.

Wishing you all the best.
