World Athletics Half Marathon Championships Selection 2020

POSTED:

Kevin Seaward, Hugh Armstrong and Ann Marie McGlynn have been selected to compete at the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships scheduled for Gdynia, Poland on 17th October.  This event was originally scheduled for March of this year but was postponed following the outbreak of Coronavirus. This is the only European or World Championship event scheduled to take place in 2020 and arrangements are still subject to change due to the pandemic.

World Athletics have produced extensive Covid-19 Safety protocols to allow the event to proceed, while the HP Unit of Athletics Ireland has drafted its own Covid-19 policy for Team Ireland travelling to International Competitions, based on Sport Ireland and World Athletics protocols.   All travelling athletes plus support staff are required to comply with all Covid-19 related measures in place, including undergoing an examination with a GP in advance of travel to assess for symptoms of Covid-19, undertaking a Covid-19 PCR test prior to departure, on arrival at the Championship hotel, within 3 days of return from the event, and again 7 days later. The travelling party will be confined to the Championships ‘travel bubble’ while abroad and should restrict movements for 14 days or until negative Covid-19 tests are returned.
