David Campbell ( 24 ), St Coca's AC qualified for the European Championships in Gothenburg on Saturday when running an outstanding 1.46.99 for 800 metres at a BMC meeting in Solihull. His time was almost two seconds inside his previous best and ranks him 9th on the Irish all-time list just ahead of Ronnie Delany. Last weekend David won the 1500 metres for Ireland at the European Cup.There is quite a resurgence in 800 metres running at the moment with Thomas Chamney and Eoin Everard on an upward curve as well and some fascinating races are in prospect for the remainder of the season.
