Smyth wins World Paralympic Title

Jason Smyth, City of Derry has won the International Paralympic World Athletics Championships in Assen, Holland today over 200 metres in a new world record tiime of 21.83. Jason held the old record with a time of 21.84. Recently Jason competed for Ireland in the world junior athletics championships in Beijing over 100 metres having qualified with an outstanding time of 10.61 achieved in Mannheim, Germany in July. Our congratulations to Jason and his coach Stephen Maguire on this magnificent achievement.
