Waterford’s Joe Gough has won gold at the European Masters.
Joe claimed the medal in the indoor over-65 1500 metres final in Venice.
The West Waterford athlete saw off close competition from 15 other athletes including another Irish athlete, Brian Lynch from Dundalk, who finished just behind in second.
Gough “It was a tough race in very hot conditions, when I passed the finish line at first I just collapsed on the group, I was totally of course elated but I was totally exhausted as well”.
