World Mountain Running Association Long-Distance Challenge

Venue: Interlaken Switzerland Distance: 42km/+1829m ascent/-305m descent Date: September 8th 2007 The 2007 race will be the fourth holding of the WMRA long-distance challenge. This year the challenge is part of the Jungfrau mountain marathon in Switzerland. Entries are limited to 4,000 athletes and entries close at the end of February. The Jungfrau has been described as the most scenic marathon in the world but it must also be one of the toughest! The course records are held by multiple World mountain-running champion kiwi Jonathan Wyatt (2 hours 49) set in 2003 and Swiss orienteer Marie-Luce Romanens (3 hours 21) set in 2001. Jono was 21st in the marathon in the 2004 Olympics. Interestingly Ethiopian men have won the last three races. The closing date for entries is the end of February WMRA Full Contacts and Details
