Monday, May 16th, 2011

Martin Fagan of Mullingar Harriers has been announced as the Crowne Plaza Athlete of the Month for April following his excellent performance in finishing second in 46.39 minutes at the Blue Cross Broad Street Run 10 mile in Philadelphia. Fagan’s time is the second fastest ever by an Irishman over this distance and improves on the 46:58 he ran in 2008 at the Great South Run in Portsmouth. John Treacy holds the fastest time of 46:25 minutes.

The Crowne Plaza Athlete of the Month Award scheme recognises the outstanding performances of Irish athletes throughout the year. A monthly winner is selected by a panel of well-respected athletics experts with a wide knowledge and understanding of all disciplines of the sport. The selected athlete will be presented with a special commemorative trophy and a voucher for the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
